New Artificer Cantrip for 5th Edition! Exploding Engine

I have been diving into Artificers more lately and it just feels like they need to be able to create tiny exploding robots.
Exploding Engine
Conjuration Cantrip
Level: Cantrip | Casting Time: 1 Action | Range/Area: Touch. | Components: S, M* |
Duration: 1 Minute | School: Conjuration | Attack/Save: Ranged | Dmg/Effect: Thunder |
You create two tiny engines and imbue them with magic. As a bonus action on your turn, you can make a ranged spell attack with one of the engines by winding it up and pointing it in the direction of a creature within 30ft. of you. On a hit, the target takes Thunder damage equal to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. Hit or miss, the spell then ends and the engine breaks into its various components.
If you cast this spell again, the spell ends early on any engines still affected by it.
