I think it is important to share our feedback on OGL 1.2 not just with WotC, but also with the rest of the community. So here is what I tried to communicate in my response.
Thanks and credit to Sly Flourish for posting such a great breakdown (and for so many other things) and to MyLawyerFriend for being a fantastic Legalease to English translator. I have stolen most of this from them.
Deauthorizing the OGL 1.0a is a mistake. 3rd party publishers and the community at large will not trust you again if you do.
Release the full SRD (or at least a sizable chunk of it) under the creative commons. Doing so would be a tangible gesture that will do a lot to bring people back.
Use an independent judge for hateful content. WotC is not trustworthy enough to be the sole arbiter of what constitutes "hateful".
Make the OGL truly royalty-free and irrevocable. Currently, there are too many loopholes.
Clarify the termination clause. It is too broad to trust.
Clarify the severability clause. It is also too broad and essentially invalidates the entire document.
The VTT policy is a mess. What about non-static tools that function under the OGL? Tools that people use every day would be outside of the OGL and that is unacceptable.
8. Take a deep look at your leadership team. The fact that this happened at all means that there are fundamental issues with who is leading WotC. The attempted deauthorization of the OGL speaks to a level of contempt that they have for the community that truly stewards this game. Get it together.
